Frontier Airlines Holdings, Inc., Frontier Airlines, Inc. and Lynx Aviation, Inc. successfully emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Oct. 1, 2009, when Republic Airways Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: RJET) completed its acquisition of Frontier Airlines Holdings, Inc. The companies are now wholly-owned subsidiaries of Republic. The stock of Frontier Airlines Holdings, Inc. was cancelled on Oct. 1, 2009. Frontier Airlines and Lynx Aviation will continue to operate under their same names, offering the same flight schedules, customer amenities and frequent flier benefits as in the past. History On April 10, 2008, Frontier Airlines Holdings, Inc. filed voluntary petitions for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, in the Southern District of New York. This action followed an unexpected attempt by Frontier's principal credit card processor to substantially increase a "hold-back" of customer receipts, which threatened to severely impact Frontier's liquidity. On June 22, 2009, Frontier announced that it had reached an investment agreement with Republic Airways Holdings Inc. by which Republic will serve as equity sponsor for Frontier's plan of reorganization, allowing Republic to purchase 100% of the equity in the reorganized company for $108.75 million. On July 30, 2009, Southwest Airlines submitted an initial non-binding proposal to acquire Frontier under the auction procedures established in Frontier's Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases. And, on August 13, 2009, Republic Airways Holdings, Inc. was declared the winning bidder in the auction to acquire Frontier.
